FROST, Justice.

The State alleged that on June 22, 1989, Anthony Ray Baca and Robert Gutierrez murdered their fellow inmate Luis Valasquez. The State's witnesses testified that Baca and Gutierrez waited for Valasquez in a corridor near the control room at the Penitentiary of New Mexico in Santa Fe.
