The roof of a building owned by Staas Plumbing Company, Inc. and occupied by Waco Packing Co., Inc. partially collapsed after a heavy rain. Staas sued Johnson Roofing, Inc., which had re-roofed the building five months before the collapse, for negligence and a breach of warranty under the Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA).
