Plaintiff, Joseph Currie, brought this action in the circuit court of Will County against defendant, Joseph Lao, an Illinois State trooper. Plaintiff's complaint, sounding in negligence, sought recovery from Lao for damages plaintiff sustained when Lao's patrol car collided with plaintiff's pickup truck. Lao's motion to dismiss the action, based upon the common law doctrine of public officials' immunity, was denied...
