GUDGEL, Judge:

These appeals stem from a judgment entered by the Pulaski Circuit Court in a negligence action against a hospital. After a trial, a jury determined that negligence on the part of appellant/appellee Humana of Kentucky, Inc., d/b/a Humana Hospital Lake Cumberland (Humana), was a substantial factor in the failure to diagnose an infant, appellee/appellant Brian McKee (Brian), as suffering from the congenital metabolic disorder of phenylketonuria (PKU)....
