On March 20, 1981, the defendant, Jackson, was convicted in the circuit court of Du Page County of the rape (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 11-1), deviate sexual assault (Ill.Rev.Stat.1979, ch. 38, par. 11-3), and robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1979, ch. 38, par. 18-1) of Mary W. In July 1988, Jackson filed a petition for post-conviction relief challenging several aspects of his sentencing. The trial judge denied relief...
