A jury in the circuit court of Lake County convicted defendant, Robin Stewart, of attempted murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, pars. 8-4(a), 9-1(a)(1)) and armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 33A-2)), and the court sentenced him to a term of 34 years' imprisonment.
