Plaintiff Wilfred Nobles was driving southbound on Epworth Road in White County, Illinois, at approximately 40 miles per hour. His friend Daniel McCarty, the owner of the car, was riding as a passenger. Darrance Ackerman was driving westbound on Maunie Road at no more than 40 miles per hour.1 The cars collided at the intersection of the two roads.
