The defendant, Ronnie Ray Martin, age 27, was indicted for first degree murder. Pursuant to a plea agreement, the defendant pled guilty to an amended charge of attempted second degree murder. The plea agreement provided that defendant could be sentenced to a maximum of 30 years at hard labor.
