The appellant, David G. McCulla (the claimant), sought benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act (Ill.Rev.Stat.1983, ch. 48, par. 138.1 et seq.) contending he suffered injuries arising out of his employment with the appellee, the Elk Grove Village Fire Department (the employer).
