The defendant, Ellis R. Wilkinson, was charged by bill of information with armed robbery, in violation of La.R.S. 14:64. He pled not guilty and, after trial by jury, was found guilty as charged. Thereafter, the State filed a habitual offender bill of information; and, after a hearing, the defendant was adjudicated a third felony habitual offender. The defendant received a sentence of seventy years at hard labor, without benefit of parole...
