This case arose when Thomas Jones, an FBI agent, hit Kerri Snodgrass while driving a government car. Snodgrass sued Jones, and hoped to hold the United States liable for the damages. In addition to the travel, including investigative and supervisory activities, required by his position as Special Agent in Charge, Jones was authorized to use his government car for travel between work and home, from which he could respond to emergency calls...
