In the fall of 1988 a Newport County grand jury returned an indictment that charged the defendant, Robert Peabody (Peabody), with the murder of William Capuano (Capuano). After a two-week trial, the case was submitted to a jury on June 27, 1990. The following day the jury returned a verdict of guilty to a charge of first-degree murder.
