Defendant, Kenneth Bliey, was convicted of murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)) and attempt murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, pars. 8-4(a), 9-1(a)) following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County. The trial judge sentenced defendant to a prison term of natural life on the murder conviction and a concurrent prison term of 30 years on the attempt murder...
