The relator, and co-defendant Earl Jackson, were charged by bill of information with armed robbery in violation of La.R.S. 14:64. The two men were tried together before a jury and found guilty as charged. The district court thereafter granted Jackson's motion for a new trial and the state dismissed the charge against him. The court denied relator's own motion for a new trial and sentenced him as a multiple offender to forty nine and one half (49½...
