On December 6, 1985, a car driven by defendant Robert Brown collided with another automobile on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. As a result of the accident, a passenger in the other car, Robert Ring, was killed, and the car's two other occupants, Frank Navarro and Kathy Vasilakos, received injuries.
