Defendants, Ricardo Council, Kenneth Banks, and Nicole Ray were indicted for armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 33A-2) and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. (Ill.Rev. Stat.1987, ch. 56½, par. 1401(b)(2).) The charges stemmed from defendants' arrests following a Chicago police undercover drug investigation. Following a bench trial, the circuit court found defendants guilty...
