This is an appeal from a judgment notwithstanding the verdict whereby the trial court judge increased the jury's award of damages to the plaintiff.

On January 9, 1986, the plaintiff, Barbara Tabarelli, was driving on Louisiana Avenue in Lake Charles on her way to pick up her daughter at school. She slowed for a stopped vehicle ahead of her.
