The defendant, Velvet Shipley Scriber, was convicted by a jury of second degree battery, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:34.1, and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:62.3. The trial court sentenced her to two years at hard labor on each charge, to be served consecutively, with one year of each sentence to be suspended if she made restitution to the victim.
