On April 6, 1987, a Cook County grand jury indicted defendant, Terry Everett, and co-defendant, Jarvis Hollingsworth, for murder, armed violence, conspiracy, and solicitation. Defendant's first jury trial resulted in a conviction for conspiracy. Yet, the jury was unable to reach a verdict as to the murder count and a mistrial resulted.
