Defendant Clifford Davis was indicted for the murder of Alice Burt that took place on October 15, 1987. After a jury trial defendant was found guilty of murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(1)) and sentenced to an extended-term of 70 years in prison.
