On May 21, 1986, the defendant, Irvin John Thomas, and Karen Stevenson were arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. On July 16, 1987, after a jury trial, Thomas was found guilty of nine counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to distribute and three counts of possession of CDS.
