Appellant was convicted of the murders of Herman Matthews and his wife, May Matthews, and sentenced to death for both crimes. His conviction was affirmed on direct appeal to this Court, Skaggs v. Commonwealth, Ky., 694 S.W.2d 672 (1985), with certiorari denied by the United States Supreme Court, 476 U.S. 1130, 106 S.Ct. 1998, 90 L.Ed.2d 678 (1986).
