Plaintiffs Winfield Bates and Julia Bates brought this action against defendant Merrimack Mutual Fire Insurance Company, seeking recovery under an insurance policy for fire loss. Defendant claimed the policy was cancelled prior to the fire. The jury in the circuit court of McLean County held for plaintiffs, and a judgment in the amount of $16,939 was entered against defendant. The trial court also awarded plaintiffs...
