In July 1987, at a juvenile court dispositional hearing, the trial court adjudicated respondent minor, S.M. (born July 13, 1976), a ward of the court. The court based this adjudication upon its earlier finding that S.M. and his siblings were abused minors because their environment was injurious to their welfare when they resided with their respondent mother, Rebecca Hoffman.
