Plaintiff, Patricia Ann McCall, when a student enrolled in the fourth grade of a Chicago public school, was injured on September 9, 1977, as she was entering a mobile classroom through a doorway. The door closed on her leg, allegedly resulting in a serious injury consisting of a recurrent infection at the site of an abrasion caused by the door. A jury returned a verdict of $570,000 in plaintiff's favor...
