This suspensive appeal was filed by the defendant insurance company from a default judgment, following the court's denial of a new trial.

On July 12, 1991 Catherine Hunter's automobile was severely damaged when a car driven by Zolton A. Johnson struck it in the rear. Johnson's vehicle was not insured.
