Jesus Jesse Aranda was charged with one count of conspiring to distribute marijuana in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1), 846 (1988). After a plea of not guilty, Aranda was tried before a jury in the District Court1 and found guilty. He was sentenced to eighty-five months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.
