Shortly after the parties separated when respondent moved out of the marital home in December 1986, their youngest child, Jonathan, began to act in an angry and destructive manner. In August 1987 Jonathan went to live with respondent. According to petitioner, the custody change was prompted by the recommendation of a therapist and was only temporary.
