Sanchez, was convicted of retail theft (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 16A-3) in a jury trial and sentenced to one year conditional discharge after she knowingly transferred a $30 price tag from an item of clothing to a woman's jacket with a retail value of $64 and purchased the jacket with the intention of depriving the merchant of less than full retail value of the jacket.
