This is an appeal from judgment entered November 9, 1990. The underlying medical malpractice action against defendants, appellee Dr. Gopal Rao, a general surgeon, and Shadyside Hospital, began in March, 1981 when appellant, Bernadette O'Rourke, since deceased, was admitted to Shadyside Hospital for surgical repair of a hiatal hernia.
