The defendant was indicted for the murder of Jon Matthew Mason and was tried capitally on that murder charge at the 10 April 1989 Criminal Session of Superior Court, New Hanover County. The jury found the defendant guilty of first-degree murder on the theories of premeditation and deliberation and felony murder. After a sentencing proceeding pursuant to N.C. G.S. § 15A-2000, the jury recommended and the trial court entered a sentence of death...
