The day after McGreevy, a British seaman, rented an automobile from Alamo Rent-A-Car, he apparently fell asleep at the wheel and drove the car, with three of his shipmates, off Alligator Alley into a canal. McGreevy and two of the passengers, Stark and West, were killed; the third passenger, Clay, was seriously injured.
