Bridget Holt was found liable to Geneva Fortson for $82,000 in damages for personal injuries she caused Fortson in an automobile accident. After Holt's insurer, Southern General Insurance Company, paid the $15,000 limit under Holt's policy, Holt obtained a release from the balance of the judgment against her by assigning Fortson her claim against Southern General for compensatory damages arising from its negligent and bad faith failure to settle...
