Marla Gardin, a friend of Lenard Bernard Owens, permitted him to leave his luggage in her apartment. The luggage was a nylon bag with a zipper closure. The police, without a warrant, seized the bag in Owens's absence and searched it. They found crack cocaine and a large sum of cash.
