The issue presented by each of these consolidated appeals is whether the trial court erred in ordering the forfeiture of appearance bonds for each defendant.

Each of these cases arise out of a bond forfeiture proceeding in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana. In each case, American Bankers Insurance Company (hereinafter American Bankers) posted a bail bond, as surety, for each defendant. When each of the four defendants failed to appear in court...
