Dalia Espiricueta, appellant, and Eduardo Vargas, appellee, both filed applications for appointment to administer the estate of Espiricueta's deceased daughter, Jessica Annette Vargas. The major asset of Jessica's estate is a personal injury cause of action that survived her death. In a proceeding to determine heirship, the trial court declared Vargas to be Jessica's legal father and, therefore, her heir for purposes of further probate proceedings...
