On October 27, 1989, at or about 7:35 p.m., a vehicle owned by Donald J. Wharton, Jr., left a roadway in Bucks County and struck a utility pole. Killed in the accident was Wharton's girlfriend, Debra Felver. Wharton was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, homicide by vehicle, and driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance.
