This case involves the admissibility of two items of "other crimes" evidence. The defendant, Betty Lou Howard, was involved in a public altercation with Shirley Carter on 28 April 1988, in Edgewater, Maryland. Anne Arundel County police officers were summoned to the scene, where they arrested the defendant and impounded her automobile.
