Defendant, Earl D. Whitelow, was convicted by a jury in Clinton County, Illinois, of attempted burglary in violation of section 8-4 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 8-4), a Class 3 felony. He was also found guilty of possession of burglary tools in violation of section 19-2 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 19-2), a Class 4 felony.
