This action was brought in the Superior Court by Nancy Doyle (the plaintiff) as administratrix of the estate of her son, Matthew Doyle, to recover damages for his wrongful death pursuant to G.L.c. 229, § 2. The complaint alleged that the defendant's negligence in not properly diagnosing Matthew's condition and in discharging him from emergency hospital care resulted in his conscious suffering and death.
