Plaintiff Gloria Pitt was employed as the director of the Child Development Center, located in Kinston, North Carolina, and operated under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh. Sometime in 1984, plaintiff Pitt entered into a written contract of employment with the Diocese of Raleigh for a twelve month period.
