Samuel Palmer, the appellant, was convicted of the unlawful possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, a violation of § 13A-12-212, Code of Alabama 1975, and he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $100 to the victims' compensation fund.
