This is a libel action arising out of a series of articles which appeared in the New York Times between January 1985 and February 1986, concerning Elliot Gross' performance as Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York. The articles focused primarily on the handling of numerous controversial autopsies performed by the Medical Examiner's office under plaintiff's supervision.
