By bill of information filed on March 21, 1989 the defendant, Ibrahim Kafieh, was charged with the crime of attempted second degree murder in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:27, 14:30.1. A not guilty plea to that charge was withdrawn and on August 14, 1989 the defendant entered a plea of guilty to aggravated battery as defined by LSA-R.S. 14:34.
