On June 25, 1987, defendant, Raymond Thingvold, was charged pursuant to an information filed by the Winnebago County State's Attorney with the offense of solicitation (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 8-1). The information charged that between December 1, 1983, and April 30, 1986, defendant solicited George Nalan to commit the murder of defendant's wife, Barbara Thingvold.
