After a jury trial defendant-appellant Mark Von Perbandt was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 60 years following his murder conviction in 1980. Defendant brought a direct appeal from that conviction; judgment and sentence were affirmed via a Rule 23 order (People v. Von Perbandt, 113 Ill.App.3d 1165, 75 Ill.Dec. 380, 457 N.E.2d 170 (1983)).
