Defendant was indicted for the murder of Mrs. Doris Gillie and was tried capitally at the 8 August 1988 Criminal Session of Superior Court, Durham County. The jury found defendant guilty of first-degree murder on the theories of premeditation and deliberation and of felony murder, guilty of discharging a firearm into occupied property, and guilty of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
