Following a bench trial, the defendant, James Black, was convicted of the charge of criminal sexual assault (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 12-13(1)) and sentenced to a term of seven years imprisonment. He appealed. While his appeal was pending, he filed a post-conviction petition. A hearing was held on the petition.
