Defendant was indicted for the murder of John Robert Walker and was tried capitally at the 8 August 1988 Criminal Session of Superior Court, Duplin County. The jury found defendant guilty of first-degree murder on the theories of premeditation and deliberation and felony murder and guilty of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Following a sentencing proceeding pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 15A-2000, the jury recommended a sentence of death for the murder...
