The appellants, Rexford Gardner, Bertha Masera, Dorothy Dowd and Wanda DiGiacomo (hereinafter plaintiffs), are the heirs at law (first cousins) of the decedent Clara Gardner. The appellee, Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Cancer Fund (hereinafter proponent), would be the primary beneficiary of Gardner's estate if a document purporting to be her will is admitted to probate.
